ONE person can now do both Static and Flow Testing with the HPR-31 Digital Flow Test Kit. Telog instruments has simplified the process of flow testing with its Hydrant Flow System kits and updated Teloggers software. Testing can be done with as little as 2 HPR's, a diffuser with pitot and Teloggers software.

With an HPR on one hydrant recording pressure and another HPR connected to a Pollard diffuser you can simultaneously record both pressure and flow data in one second intervals. Using a Palm M-125 you can collect flow data and visually see how your flow test is proceeding by connecting the Palm Pilot to the Telog DTU attached to the diffuser.

1. Attach a HPR to the residual hydrant and open hydrant valve. Use your Telog Palm DTU to see the static pressure at that hydrant.

2. Remove one of the hose nozzle caps from the flow hydrant, noting the type of shoulder, then flush the hydrant at low pressure until the water is free of debris and is running clear. Make sure to check all other caps to see that they are fully tightened!

3. Close the flow hydrant. Attach the HPR with diffuser to the flow hydrant.

4. Completely open the hydrant and use your Telog HPR to see the flow in GPM. Remember to always close hydrants slowly to avoid causing water hammer events.

5. Check the pressure on the residual hydrant using your Telog Palm DTU. If the desired pressure drop has not been achieved, then use steps 2,3, &4 to flow additional hydrants to reach the desired residual pressure.

6. Test Complete. The test data is stored in the HPR's and can be copied into your Telog Palm DTU or downloaded into your computer for further analysis.
