The cast aluminum LPD-450 Diffuser/Plenum Assembly enables one to use three standard LPD-250s to achieve flow rates up to 4,000 GPM. The cast assembly weighs about 30 lbs. and a single person can easily attach it to a hydrant. After connection to the hydrant, the legs are adjusted to provide outboard support.

The LPDs are then attached as they would normally be attached to a hydrant. The diffuser is used to recover dynamic pressure before diversion in the manifold and thereby minimize the overall pressure drop required to achieve a 4,000 GPM flow rate.
