KingLock™ K2 Fire Hydrant Lock

The KingLock K2 deters unauthorized access to the hydrant’s operating nut.

The K2 has just two components, excluding the padlock:

1. A ductile iron 1-1/2” pentagon
   operating nut extension with a
   stainless steel swivel hasp mounts
   to the hydrant’s 1-1/2” pentagon
   operating nut.
   
   
2. A heavy tubular steel outer shell
   that completely encloses the inner
   op nut extension except for the
   padlock hasp that protrudes through
   an opening in the top.

Uses standard Hydrant Wrench's designed to fit pentagon nuts up to 1-3/4".

When installed both the shell and the hasp swivel freely and individually.

The op nut extension and the outer shell are powder painted red for exceptional durability.

High Security Shackle Padlock

Assembled K2 lock measures 3” in diameter overall, and 6-1/4” high to the top of the hasp.

The K2 was designed to accept a wide range of padlocks having shackle diameters up to and including 5/16” diameter. To operate the hydrant simply remove the padlock, lift off the outer shell, and open the hydrant using any box end* hydrant wrench.

* The pentagon extension is not designed to be used with a 1-1/2” pentagon socket with an internal depth less than 2-1/2”

To provides the optimum combination of security and access capability to specific fire districts, and we offer a wide choice of keyed-alike locks to meet individual needs. For areas where multiple districts may be called in, equipping all units with special keys and/or tools may be impractical. Standard padlocks can be cut with bolt cutters as a last resort, and for even quicker access, breakaway locks have shackles that can be shattered with any hydrant wrench.

High security padlocks with shrouded shackles offer the ultimate degree of protection, given that the shackles are covered when the lock is closed. Choose the lock that is best suited for your district. The KingLock K2 enhances hydrant visibility. Fires can double in size in less than a minute, which makes locating hydrants quickly in the dark and/or identifying hydrants with adequate flow rates of critical importance.

The KingLock K2 comes with 2” wide, highly reflective white band of tape on the perimeter of the top of the outer shell for 360° visibility. There is an extra 2” of space below the white band should you also want to add a band of color coded tape to indicate hydrant flow rates for specific hydrants. We offer rolls of 2” wide reflective tape in the following colors:



Attaching reflective tape to a smooth surface rather than to a rough cast hydrant flange or body is easy, fast and certainly cost effective, especially when you don’t have to mask off the tape when repainting hydrants. In addition, the reflective tape will always be located at the highest position on the hydrant for improved visibility.
