Product Details
- Paint recommended for repainting fire hydrants
- Rust-Oleum quality
- Pollardwater offers two versions of hydrant paint: oil based alkyd and water based acrylic
- Both are classified as DTM, Direct-To- Metal, meaning that they can be applied over clean bare metal without the need for a prime coat
- Both have a durable, glossy, weather resistant finish that resists chalking and fading
- The drying time for touching is 1-3 hours for the water based acrylic versus 8-15 hours for the solvent based alkyd at 70-80°F at 50 percentage relative humidity
- Both have a 5 year shelf life, but the water based acrylic must be kept from freezing
- Acrylic paints clean up with water versus paint thinner or mineral spirits for alkyd paints
